She has just turned 70, but this is a state secret. Hours of gym, some plastic surgeries, boxing and swimming classes and botox applications helped keep her looks in her 50s. For not being able to stand so much disposition, her husband switched her for a woman, let’s say, calmer and left her on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Responsible for the comeback of Louise Cardoso to comedies after eight years, this tragic-comic character is the star of “Velha é a Mãe”, unedited and awarded script by Fábio Porchat, directed by João Fonseca. Ana Baird shares the stage with Louise and plays Alice, only child of the marriage which just ended. Visiting her mother, in an attempt to comfort her, she can barely speak due to her high lack of emotional control. Among revelations, fits of anger and memories of the past, mother and daughter exchange criticism and affection, thanks to the acid dialogs by Porchat, winner of the CCBB’s Festival de Novos Dramaturgos in 2007 for this script.
