Three performances that showcase great women in the performing arts will stream March 15-April 1

NEW YORK, March 12, 2018 – Throughout history, from Sarah Bernhardt to Patti LuPone, women have made immeasurable contributions to the performing arts. Cennarium, one of the largest subscription streaming services for theatrical productions, is honoring these contributions during March in celebration of Women’s History Month. Cennarium has curated three performances that represent the role of women in the performing arts and is making them available for free to subscribers and for the nominal fee of $1 for nonsubscribers.

More information on the performances and how to watch them on-demand can be found at: https://www.cennarium.com/womens-history-month.

The three performances:

“Carmen” – Available March 15-18
Created by Antonio Gades in collaboration with Carlos Saura, this matchless production shows how the explosive power and intensity of feeling in traditional Spanish flamenco can bring vividly to life the sultry passion, earthy emotion, love and rivalry that is Carmen. Vanesa Vento lives and breathes Carmen, emphasizing the many faces of this character.

“Die Rota Zora” – Available March 22-25
This contemporary opera, written and directed for young audiences, centers around a courageous girl, Red Zora, who is the leader of a gang of orphans in 1930s Croatia fighting against injustice. Composer Elisabeth Naske lets the spectators immerse themselves into the fascinating Mediterranean atmosphere which combines with the stirring rhythms and imaginative stage design to fascinate audiences of all ages.

Martha Graham Dance Company – March 29-April 1
Described by The Washington Post as “one of the seven wonders of the artistic universe,” this groundbreaking and celebrated company is embracing a new vision that showcases masterpieces by Graham, her peers and their successors as well as newly commissioned works by contemporary artists.

“Women have played an integral role in the performing arts since the beginning of time,” said Themis Gomes, CEO of Cennarium Americas Inc. “This month we want to honor their contributions and bring their work to audiences around the world as we celebrate Women’s History Month.”

In addition, throughout the month of March Cennarium will be posting tributes and information about inspiring women within the arts, both past and present, on social media. The official hashtags for the campaign are #CennariumWHM and #WomenInArts.
