The School for Scandal
Description
Written by Irish playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan (1751-1815), The School for Scandal is regarded as one of the greatest comedies of the English language regarding traditional habits. A mere seven months into his marriage, grumpy Commander Pedro Atiça is constantly at odds with his wife Rosalia, who was used to the dull country life that she used to lead, yet now is dazzled with the vain pleasures of high society life. As the legal guardian for his niece, the pure and chaste Maria, Pedro finds himself entangled in a web of intrigue and deceit involving a dispute for the girl’s hand in marriage.
