JT – a Punk Fairy Tale

Laura Albert, a frustrated punk singer who makes a living out of phone-sex services, decides to write a book and creates the character JT Leroy – a teenage drug addict and transvestite with mental issues. Due to the autobiographical nature of the book, the author decides to bring the character to life and asks her sister-in-law to impersonate JT. Together they fool Hollywood producers, movie stars and publishers. Based on actual events.
